Feedback: St George’s Park Football Club, Newport was the venue for Pentecost08 an event for the whole Island church under the HOPE08 banner and linked to Global Day of Prayer. It was a festival style gathering with gazebo displays by nearly 80 Christian organisations, businesses and churches. It was an amazing colourful sight as one came through the gates and people were thrilled by the atmosphere and to see the diversity and variety of the Christian presence there.
The amazing weather made for a fantastic afternoon as various groups/choirs brought a range of musical styles from the main stage from 2pm – 5pm. Everyone then gathered together for the main worship which incorporated the prayers from GDOP.
We have no idea how many were there as it was a free event and people came and went over the 4+hours – but the ground staff thought it was between 2000 and 3000 based on their experience of other events there.
