Feedback: Around 600 people gathered in Castle Gardens, an open square in the centre of Swansea to pray for the world, the region and the city. A popular local celebrity, who is a Christian, hosted the event.

The programme began with worship and moved on to prayer for the world, which included representatives of twelve nations leading prayers for their countries in their native languages. The congregation was then encouraged to pray for the nations of the world.

Prayer for the city and region was helped by the presence of the Lord Mayor, the Chief Superintendent of Police and one of the father figures of the church in Swansea. Each addressed the gathering for a few minutes, before being prayed for and presented with a framed copy of The Swansea Declaration of Hope.

Six representatives from different age ranges then spoke personally of their hope for the region. The event was brought to a close with prayer for neighbours and a speaking out of the Swansea Declaration of Hope led by more than 30 church leaders from across the city.

There was also a challenging drama sketch and a short message on God’s healing power, which resulted in two clear testimonies of healing.

There is a plan to mark the GDOP in 2009 when the hope is to double the numbers!
