Feedback: The Global Day of Prayer was the only excuse we needed to arrange a special event to catch the theme of "Prayer from the High Places". So it could be no other site but the Titan Crane, Clydebank's tourist attraction. The best support came from the Church of Scotland in Faifley, Clydebank's Elim Church and Faifley's 7th Day Adventists. On the day 50 Christians were 150ft high, praying over Clydebank, with a small group of vertigo challenged folk staying at the foot of the crane
The Titan Crane is Clydebank's remaining massive crane, part of the now closed Shipyards. On the bank of the river Clyde and capable of lifting 200 tons it provides great viewse whole town. From its top platform we enjoyed the view, spotted our Churches and communities before joining in an act of worship.
Born and bred "Bankies" joined with those who have adopted the town as home and recent immigrants from Africa. We took time to find the compass direction of our home countries and our international mission partners before praying for them and all GDP participants.
The 10 Days and Pentecost Day have been a great encouragement to my congregation and good for building relationships with other Churches. From this single event has come a commitment to reading the New Testament in a single day and to planning a 24/7 Prayer Weekend in the Autumn. Go on give us another challenge in 2009!
